Fisher Island is the most exclusive seaside community in South Florida. Once a one-family island home of the Vanderbilts, Fisher Island is only accessible by private boat, helicopter or by private continuously running passenger vehicle ferry service; hence providing refuge and retreat for its residents. The Links is a 9-hole par 35-championship seaside golf course with a 10,000 square-foot clubhouse with golf shop and the Golf Grill restaurant with picturesque views of the course. Also part of golf complex is a full size practice range and short game area.
The Tennis Center has 18 tennis courts with three types of playing surfaces: two grass courts, two hard courts and 14 Har-Tru clay courts.
The surge proof, deep-water Marinas have 100+ slips that can accommodate luxury yachts up to 250 feet. The marina boasts water depths of 15 feet leading up to the entrance to both marinas and 8 feet within the inner marina and 12 feet within the outer marina, along with entry breakwaters that ensure calm and comfortable berths. Next to the inner marina is La Trattoria, an Italian casual eatery with both indoor and outdoor dining as well as Porto Cervo a fine Italian and Mediterranean cuisine restaurant. In close proximity to the outer marina is the Beach Club with its restaurant with casual fare. The airy & elegant white seaside pavilions are used for breakfast and lunch. The beach with powder white imported Bahamian sand, the Vanderbilt Mansion salt water pool and Sunset Bar are all in the same area.
The Vanderbilt Mansion has a ballroom that can accommodate up to 150 for private parties. Also housed in the mansion is an outstanding steakhouse called The Garwood Lounge & Piano Bar as well as a casual dining restaurant called City View with a spectacular view of the iconic Miami skyline.
To complement the community the Island has a private school, Fisher Island Day School, which covers pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade for both on-island and off-island residents. If you have children that go to middle school you will then have an excuse to leave the island during the day.
